This is a balls to the wall all out illicit scrum for this election. I see it as the Democrats and their supporters will do anything to win this election—ANYTHING! Fair or NOT! Last election I believe they were slashing tires of would be voters so they couldn’t get the to voting station. And with the Media in their pocket, there is nobody calling them on any of it! Yet Obama hasn’t run away with this thing… Telling. Very telling.

You call Democrats the “sheeple” yet you actually seem to believe the stuff you publish on here. Both sides lie. Both sides cheat. Both sides will do and say whatever they can to get our vote. The Republicans are certainly no better than the Democrats.

So Schumer likens conservative opinion to pornography, McCain says a vote for Obama is vote for Socialism. It’s all big talk to grab headlines and it’s all bull.

What it comes down to for me is whose basic principles are aligned with mine. My main concerns are that my candidate is Pro Choice, pro stem cell research, pro gay rights and won’t appoint anyone the Supreme Court who will vote against any of these things.

    I can’t wait until tomorrow.

    Gail,
my use of the word sheeple (doesn’t infer Democrat) it means all people who just blindly follow, grazing along life, not really paying attention—There are sheeple in all groups—Republicans, Democrats, Independents, every group. My posts that reference sheeple aren’t targeting Democrats.

I don’t believe that saying, my “opinion (conservative) is like pornography,” is equal to the statement, “a vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism.”

Government telling me speech will be silenced unless there is someone with an opposing view having equal time isn’t freedom of speech.

    Socialism defined:
a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Government telling companies how much money they can make and taking what they want for the greater good is Socialism. (having a windfall tax on oil profits—deciding they make too much money???)

Government mandating banks to give people who can’t afford homes, loans, is Socialism.
Government regulation in some instances is Socialism.
Government taking tax money from one class and giving it to another class is Socialism.
Government mandate on businesses to provide healthcare is Socialism.
Government taking over energy companies or any businesses for that matter is Socialism.
Government bankrupting an industry by putting in place taxes, based on specific ideology is Socialism.
Government spreading the wealth around is Socialism.

Obama plans on making these things happen! He has said them. He’s not hiding it. Obama, himself said, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig…”

A vote for Obama is a vote toward Socialism. I will ask you why you don’t believe it is and why do you take offense to it?

Also, if you believe I’m publishing lies or misinformation you should call me out on the specifics at the time. Broadly making accusatory claims without any evidence, context, or details isn’t really fair. I don’t believe I’m lying or cheating, and I do believe the information I publish. I research multiple sources here. Now, if there is information that is inaccurate I will certainly own up to the mistake and make the corrections. I welcome constructive criticism and debate.

I also want to include that I’m willing to learn and change my mind on issues if information that is presented persuades or convinces me otherwise.

The way it looks right now you will be happy tomorrow, however it’s not over yet and I just thank God we don’t live in a dictatorship, have a system of government that has checks and balances, and we have the opportunity to vote leaders in or out every few years.

This election is about a difference of ideas, regardless who wins, it’s going to be close, meaning that there are going to be a lot of people who have different ideas.

I hope for what’s best for this country. I will support whomever wins and hope that they make this a better place to live.

    i Chef Politikos,

Most of the above “Socialism” ideals you reference are things that have been in place in this country for a lot longer than I’ve been around. The government has been spreading the wealth around since the beginning of Welfare and tax credits which is why I’ve not understood McCain’s repeated reference to what I believe was a one time comment by Obama and something that McCain has said himself.

When I say “Both sides lie. Both sides cheat.” I don’t mean you, I mean the campaigns and media as a whole. I believe that you truly believe what you write and I wonder how we could both hear the same things and come away with such vastly different opinions on what was said. I can only assume it’s because we each listen to news that is slanted towards our own beliefs. That’s human nature.

I’m thrilled the election is over and I’m very happy about the outcome. I hope that he is what’s best for the country. Time will tell.

    Gail,
In hopes to move on from the conversation about Socialism for now:
The things I referenced above have been talked about during this election—windfall taxing or taking money away from a company because some people feel like they made too much hasn’t been done and even the thought of it wreaks of VERY unfair socialistic practices.
I don’t know that they have been done before. Yes, welfare has.

“The government has been spreading the wealth around since the beginning of Welfare and tax credits…”

Yes, which I would say is why the ability to live on welfare was wrong, was changed, was a Socialist policy, and was wrong. Tax refunds are giving back money that was already yours to begin with.

Time will tell and you should know that one day later, I still believe and have hope! Yay!
